Put Daybook on your phone's home screen

Why this mattersDaybook is a web page, not an app from an app store. Put on your home screen, it opens in one tap, full screen, straight onto your own board. You don't sign in each time, because your private link is the key.

What you need

• Your phone.
• Your private Daybook link: the address of your board, which begins daybookforhosts.com/d/. Sign in on your phone (tap Sign in on daybookforhosts.com, then the link in the email) and your board opens at it. If you bookmarked your board after setup, that bookmark is it too.
• In Settings, under Your private link, Daybook explains it: The web address of your Daybook works without signing in, so it opens straight from your phone.

iPhone (Safari)

1. Open your private Daybook link in Safari.
2. Tap the Share button: the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen. If you don't see it, tap the three dots (···) at the bottom right first, then Share.
3. Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
4. The name shows as Daybook. If you see a switch called Open as Web App, leave it on. Tap Add at the top right.
5. A cream D on a navy square appears on your home screen. Tap it: Daybook opens on your own board, full screen, without Safari's address bar.

Android (Chrome)

1. Open your private Daybook link in Chrome.
2. Tap the three dot menu (⋮) at the top right.
3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen; phones word it differently. If Chrome then asks Install or Create shortcut, choose Install.
4. Tap Install (or Add) to confirm. Some phones ask once more, or let you drag the icon to where you want it.
5. The Daybook icon appears on your home screen and in your app list. Tap it: Daybook opens on your own board, full screen.

Why this mattersAnyone with your private link can open your board, so keep it to yourself. If you've shared it by mistake, tap Replace my private link in Settings: the old address stops working straight away, and nothing on your board is lost.

If you replace your private link

The old icon stops working. Settings shows your new address and says to open it and save it to your phone again. Delete the old icon, open the new link, and add Daybook again as above.
