Build your guest guide and share it
One page at a time, then the link and the door card.
Why this mattersYour guest guide is the page guests open on their phones: how to find you, how to get in, the WiFi, your rules and the places you love. Written once, it answers the questions every guest would otherwise message about. Every word in it is yours, and Daybook takes you through it one page at a time.
What you need
- Your phone, for photos of the way in: the turning, where to park, the path, the door and the key safe.
- The door code and the WiFi name and password.
- Your area guide as a PDF, if you already have one.
Build it, one page at a time
- Open the editor. Tap Guest guides at the top of your board. It opens in a new tab on Page 1 of 10 · Welcome.
- Move through the pages. Each page says what comes next. Tap Continue, or Skip for now to come back later. Daybook saves as you go and shows Saved ✓.
- Welcome. Already have an area guide? Tap Already have a guide? to open it, then tap Choose your PDF to keep it exactly as it is (under 10 MB). Guests open it from your guide as Our area guide. Keep door codes out of it: anyone with the link can read a PDF. Or let Daybook read your places from it into the guide: Choose the file, Read the link or Read it, untick anything you don't want, then Add these to the guide.
- Still on Welcome, write Your welcome note: a few warm lines. Put your first name in Who is it from?; the guide names you to guests with it.
- The place: its name, address and how guests reach you.
Getting here
Why this mattersGuests read this page more than any other. A photo at each step takes the nerves out of arriving and ends most "where do we park?" messages. A photo of any sign helps most of all.
- Under The way in, one photo at a time there are four steps: The turning, Where to park, The way to the door and The door and the key. Tap each photo frame (Tap to choose a photo, or take one now) and add one short line. Rename, move or remove any step, or tap + Add another step.
- Under How do guests get in?, choose Key safe, Lockbox, Smart lock, We meet them or Something else, type The code, and say where it is and how it works. If the code changes for every stay, leave it empty and send it nearer the day.
- Check What time can they arrive?. It starts at 4pm.
House rules, and the rest
- House rules. Under What do you ask of every guest?, tap a suggestion such as No smoking or Quiet after 10pm and change it to say what you'd say, or tap + Your own rule. Keep to the ones you would otherwise message about; nothing goes in unless you add it.
- Then Questions guests ask, Room by room, Once they’re in (the WiFi name and password), Places you love, Just in case and Checkout.
- You finish on Your guide: a ticked list of the pages. Next time you open the editor, it starts here.
Send each guest their own link
- On your board, tap the stay. Under Their guide link, tap Copy link. It says, for example, Copied. Paste it into your message to Sam on Airbnb.
- Paste it into your own message to the guest. Daybook sends nothing to guests.
- If the stay cancels or changes, tap Stop this link. It stops working straight away; Copy link makes a new one.
Why this mattersA stay's own link shows the door code and WiFi password from two days before arrival until checkout day, and the stay card says the dates. Before then the guest sees when they will appear. After checkout they are hidden again, so an old link gives nothing away.
The door card and your place's own link
- On Your guide, under Share it, tap Print the door card: an A6 card with a QR code, to put inside your door. Copy the door-card link copies the same link. It is for the card and the printed book; send each guest their own stay link, as above.
- This link shows the door code and WiFi only on the days of a stay. At other times it says The door code and WiFi show here during your stay.
- Make a new link replaces it: the old link and any printed card stop working, so print the card again. Stop this link switches it off until you make a new one. Guests with their own stay link aren't affected.
- Print the guide book prints the whole guide, including the code and WiFi, so keep it inside.
What guests tap
- Tap to reveal shows and copies the WiFi password. Then Yes, we’re in ✓ puts ✓ They’re in, confirmed at 15:42 on your Today panel.
- We’ve checked out puts ✓ Guests have left at 10:05 · the clean can start on Today.
- Coming back? At the end of Checkout, guests on a direct booking are asked if they'd like to hear when dates open, and can leave their email. It shows only on direct bookings: Airbnb's rules don't let hosts invite Airbnb guests to book outside Airbnb. Your own preview always shows it. Under Guest mailing list on Your guide, tap Download guest list file.
