Read your numbers and your Friday Briefing

Fees first, then Numbers, Ask the clerk and the letter.

Why this mattersNumbers tells you how this year compares with last, in pounds and nights, and why it moved. Every figure comes from your own records and the booking emails Daybook reads, with what it rests on. It describes what happened; it never tells you what to charge.

Fees first

  1. Tap Settings, then your place, and scroll to So your figures are true.
  2. Type the Cleaning fee guests pay (£) and Pet fee guests pay (£). 0 is an answer. Check Airbnb host fee (%), Booking.com commission (%) and Vrbo commission (%).
  3. If you take Booking.com bookings, choose How Booking.com pays you: Booking.com takes the guest's money and pays me after its commission, or Guests pay me directly and I pay Booking.com its commission.
  4. Tap Save changes. It says Saved 1 property ✓.

Why this mattersA payout includes the fees guests pay on top of the room, so Daybook takes them off before it says what a night earned. A Booking.com email names the guest's price, not what reaches you; your answer lets Daybook work out the payout. Until you answer, Booking.com prices aren't counted as money. If a booking email later shows a different fee, Today asks, for example Cleaning fee at Brook Cottage: Airbnb shows £60, Settings says £50: tap Change to £60, or This one was different for a one-off.

Read Numbers

  1. Open it. Tap Numbers at the top of your board. It opens on How you're doing, beside Gaps to fill and Ask the clerk. Numbers is part of the paid plan after your free days.
  2. The top line sets this year against the same date last year, for example Booking earnings are £420 ahead of this date last year (£9,180 against £8,760).
  3. Under it, What these numbers stand on says how many stays, sites and years the figures come from.
  4. The month card says what this month has taken so far against the same point last year, for example So far this October you've taken £1,240 across 11 nights. It also counts booked nights with no payout yet, such as 8 more nights are booked for the rest of October, but Daybook holds no payout for them yet, and says why and what to do: a Booking.com stay needs the answer in Settings above; a direct booking entered without a price needs what reached you, added on the stay. Those nights count as nights, never as money, until Daybook holds the payout.
  5. Tap Why Daybook says this for the reasoning: the verdict against last year, the nights with no payout yet, and how much of this year's figure came from booking emails.
  6. Tap any tile (Earned so far, Occupancy, Nightly rate and the rest) to read what it means and what it is set against.

Ask the clerk

Tap the Ask the clerk tab. It is a list of questions, not a chat, each answered from your own records: How is this month going?, How did last month go?, Which months are strongest?, How far ahead do my guests book? and more. Tap one to read its answer, then Ask something else →. With more than one place, choose Whole business or a place first.

The Friday Briefing

  1. On Friday morning, Today shows Your weekly Briefing has landed. Tap Read it here →. It opens in a new tab. On a phone the card shows on Friday and Saturday.
  2. Read the first line: it is the week in one sentence. Then Where you stand and whichever of What I took care of, What I noticed, Everything else, Still on your desk and My read have something to say.
  3. In the first ten days of a month, the letter also closes last month (SEPTEMBER 2026, IN THE BOOKS) and sets up this one (OCTOBER, SET UP).
  4. What this read won't pretend says what Daybook couldn't see that week.
  5. At the foot, Ask the clerk has more questions, and The shelf keeps every earlier letter.
  6. The Briefing is on your board only; it isn't emailed.
